summary

The bilingual edition features a new translation of Minucius Felix’s dialogue Octavius (late 2nd / early 3rd century), preceded by an extensive introductory study. Minucius’ apologetic work, structured as a conversation between three friends – the author of the dialogue, the Christian Octavius, and the pagan Caecilius – refutes widespread misconceptions about the Church and presents arguments supporting the credibility of the Christian Message, which ultimately led to Caecilius’ conversion. Ladislava Říhová’s translation and interpretation aims to fill a gap in Czech theological research, where a comprehensive study presenting Minucius’ theology in its entirety has been lacking until now.
