summary
The book is a follow up to the scholar's publications "Psychological Characteristics of Personality" (2001, 2007) and "Mass Psychological Phenomena" (2007). It crowns his effort to understand the basic autoregulatory abilities of personality in interaction with real life situations. It generalizes findings from tens of thousands respondents acquired in 1975-2007 through the original psycho-diagnostic system DIAROS. The author defines basic problems, possibilities and ways of understating the relationships of "personality psyche - life contexts - interaction activities" and categorizes and explains "problematic" personality profiles, their sources, expressions and consequences. Using comparative analysis of findings in the pre- and post-1989 era, he defines the personality background of coming to terms with the new social reality. The author also pays special attention to connections between the acquired structure of autoregulation and potentially new demands on personality in the period of social transformations and the active integration of the Czech Republic into the European Union.
