Machiavelli’s The Prince once and for all changed our way of thinking about the nature of politics, no matter which view we take. This new translation of this classical text also introduces several shorter texts, translated into the Czech for the first time, which are closely related to the main text. This edition, with accompanying texts and rich commentaries, situates the texts in the context of the author’s life and works as well as the historical and political context of Europe at the turn of the 15th century, which allows for more complex understanding of Machiavelli’s thinking.
