The book is the first comprehensive monograph on pastoral care written in the Czech language. It presents historical contexts, various justifications, different concepts, aims, methods, and areas of pastoral care. In the broad sense of the word, pastoral care is understood as a concern for another put into practice, as existential communication, or help on the way to independence and freedom. Human conflicts, difficult social roles, or borderline situations, to which pastoral care responds by offering closeness or guidance, are perceived primarily through Christian spirituality and faith.
