summary
The monograph presents the development of institutional pre-school education and the professional training of pre-school teachers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It compares in detail the concept of university-based pre-school teacher training in German-speaking countries. It pays special attention to the Bachelor’s program of Childhood Education (ages 0 to 10) in Germany and the Bachelor’s program of Elementary Education (ages 0 to 6) in Austria, which represent the new early childhood teacher training programs in both countries in the last twenty years. The work presents the results of research that is quite original in the context of Czech comparative pedagogy. It characterizes current trends in German-speaking countries that reflect the development of professional training in Europe – the drive towards professionalization and an increase in the proportion of academically qualified staff in practice. It delves deeper into the thematic focus and shows the differences in the conception of disciplinary and didactic components in the study contents. Study programs in German-speaking countries can become an inspiration for further innovations in the Czech Republic. They show the possibilities of developing qualification studies that emphasize the development of children’s communicative competences, multilingualism and inclusion, pedagogical diagnostics, partnership with the family, management as well as work in a multiprofessional pedagogical team in pre-school education.
