The collective monograph by established authors Jiří Kuthan, Jan Royt, Ivan Hlaváček, and Štěpán Valecký provides a comprehensive overview of the life and reign of Wenceslas IV, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia (1361–1419). The authors paint a vivid picture of the development of architecture, sculpture, painting (panel, book, and mural), and the arts and crafts during the reign of Wenceslas IV, which directly followed the legacy of his father, Charles IV. Never before or since has art in the Bohemian lands reached such quality as during the reigns of the two kings.
