summary
The constitution of 29 February 1920 is an essential constitutional document of the independent Czechoslovak state. Jan Kuklík follows the story of its origin and history through the year 1948, when it was replaced by the “Ninth-of-May Constitution.” The first Czechoslovak constitution is related to the foundation of the independent state as well as the critical moments, which jeopardized the independent Czechoslovak statehood in 1938/39, and with the hope of its re-enactment in the years following World War II. The 1920 constitution served as a source of inspiration for the new Czech constitution of 1992.
The treatise on the first Czechoslovak constitution was published in three volumes.
