summary

The book is inspired by the teachings of the French psychoanalyst J. Lacan: his concept of desire, pleasure, imaginary and symbolic identification, identification with the "symptom" or sublimation. This theory is used in a qualitative research of the life of a class of adolescent students focusing on social relationships and the development of identities. The essay describes the following five forms of feelings or patterns of relations: ethnosociometry (in the sense of assigning social positions), waves, groups, friendship and love of couples. These forms are then compared to major themes of the social science: herd behaviour, leader, exchange and gift (ethnosociometry), game and a ritual (waves), adventure and bureaucracy (groups), antic and modern relationships and animosities (friendship) and courtly love (love). The work results in a formal theory of feelings, formulated through a diagrammatic model. The author is a member of the Prague Group of School Ethnography.
