The textbook presents a comprehensive, modern view of the treatment of patients with thermal, electric, chemical or radiation injuries. The textbook was compiled by scholars led by Radana Königová, professor in this discipline at the clinic of the Third Medical Faculty of Charles University, a leading Czech expert on burns. It is intended for specialists, medical students and doctors during the post-graduate studies as well as in their medical practice. The book provides a well arranged summary of all aspects of the burn medicine and a clear and accurate defining of this complex field; all information is supported by numerous examples from the scholars' rich practice. Chapters devoted to the traumas and taking into account the ethical aspect of treatment are an important part of the publication. The scholars cover the extent and type of the needed care, prevention of the psychological stress caused by burns and the psychological rehabilitation of patients. The book is accompanied by a DVD, containing over 600 illustrations in high-definition quality, which are linked to individual chapters of the publication.
