summary
The publication introduces for the first time in the Czech Republic lesser known forms of Anglicisms in the Czech language. The book provides an introduction to the topic (classification of Anglicisms, motivations for adoption), but its core is comprised of an original study of neglected types: pseudo-Anglicisms (Czech neologisms from direct adoptions), lexical and semantic calques, pseudo-calques (neologisms based on calques) and hybrid Anglicisms. One chapter examines the possibilities of classifying Anglicisms according to definitional features, while a second chapter deals with the word-formation creativity of Czech speakers in using Anglicisms. The final chapter recapitulates the findings of the individual studies. The aim of the publication is to connect domestic and foreign research on Anglicisms that have influenced and will continue to influence Czech.
