This book from the pen of a leading Czech social scientist provides a comparison between the socialist and capitalist transformations which the Czech society underwent during the 20th century. Based on the social changes covered in his studies, the author poses the sociological question: "how does the changeable social system reach the extraordinary state and how does it restore itself from it?" This publication is a loose follow-up to the author?s work "Transformations - the Social Construction Principles" (Karolinum 1998).
