The collective monograph of the staff who prepare future teachers at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, is the first publication published by the Centre for Teacher Education at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, which was established in 2021. The book includes contributions from the teaching methodologies of Czech language and literature, foreign languages, history, and the pedagogical-psychological training of teachers. It offers up-to-date views on domestic and foreign approaches to professional tertiary education of future teachers, systematization of the latest findings of selected field-specific teaching methodologies, current views on the issue of didactic transformation of disciplinary knowledge and its subsequent implementation in university education programmes. In addition, it presents recent research dealing with issues pertaining to field-specific teaching methodologies, faculty teacher issues, and pedagogical practices. The publication also aims to highlight the major gaps in teacher training and the factors affecting new teachers’ adaptation to educational practice. Finally, the book seeks to identify those areas where the pedagogical-psychological and disciplinary components of teacher education can interact.
