Communication and also interaction are essential in the process of education. Both of these elements are also necessary in the teaching of swimming. In view of the specific nature of the environment in which this takes place, it is essential to devote heightened attention to these matters in the preparation of future teachers of physical education and swimming instructors. In order to raise the quality of these didactic competences, firstly an adequate diagnosis of them is essential. This can only be obtained through a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. So-called triangulation enables the acquisition of data about the activities of the teacher/instructor of swimming, as well as a feedback information from the actual participants of the educational process – pupils/clients. By combining these data, it is possible to build and develop these specific didactic competences of future and current educators.
