summary
This book assesses the Czech Republic’s energy security from both local and global perspectives, while simultaneously defining the Czech Republic’s position on this issue. The country’s energy security and the need to secure independence from foreign energy sources are key elements of the functioning of a country. The natural resources policy plays an inseparable role in energy policy and ensuring energy security. The first chapter focuses on securing crude oil supplies as one of the most important components of a natural resources policy in general. The book also analyzes the independence of the Czech Republic from the perspective of power engineering, focusing on the main challenges that power engineering is currently facing (both in the Czech Republic and within the EU). The following chapter uses quantitative analysis on the basis of the game theory to outline the main interest groups in the area of the use of unconventional deposits of natural gas in Central and Eastern Europe. The book closes with a reflection on the importance of the notion of energy security in the context of competitive ability and survival of our society. The text is complemented by numerous illustrations and charts.
