Memoirs of German physicist Werner Holzmüller (1912), a professor at the University of Leipzig. In short chapters, the author recalls the life of a German in the shadow of both major totalitarian regimes of the 20th century. The audience thus can immerse in Holzmüller's memories of the Weimar Republic, Nazism and World War II, and later the transport of German scientists to the U.S.S.R., life in the post-war GDR and the reunification of Germany.
