Metabolický syndrom

Metabolic syndrome is a systemic, generally preventable disease with a growing incidence, associated with a clustering of obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, and hypertension. The condition is a threat to an individual’s health and represents a major burden on the healthcare system. The book deals with epidemiology, pathogenesis, comorbidities, and non-pharmacological treatment, stressing the role of adiposopathy and chronic inflammation. Special attention is paid to diseases associated with increased immune activity. The book provides a comprehensive overview as a result of the collaboration between experts in metabolic syndrome, immunology, and preventive medicine from the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine – Metabolic Care and Gerontology, the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové and the University Hospital Hradec Králové, and the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové.
