Žofie Bavorská / Sophie von Bayern

The book is intended for the general community of experts, both Czech and German. It is a useful resource for historians, medievalists, archivists, and Germanists-linguists specializing in Middle German. The book contains a brief biography of Bohemian queen Sophia of Bavaria, the second wife of Bohemian and German king Wenceslas IV from the Luxembourg dynasty. It also features Sophia’s correspondence with her brothers Ernest and William of the House of Wittelsbach between 1422 and 1427. The letters are transcribed into contemporary German and Czech and supplemented with a linguistic analysis.
