summary
This book presents the history of the Osman Empire from their expansion in Europe being stopped in the second half of the 18th century to the final decay of the empire after World War One. The Author follows three basic axes of interpretation: the Sultan’s foreign policy, in other words the so called "east question"; the political situation of the interior, including the economy, and the development of separate regions; and a history of Persia, Afghanistan and Central Asia. Maps and colour pictures illustrate the book.
