This book, an introduction to the world of scholarly literature in environmental science, is intended for bachelor, master and doctoral degree university students. The first section focuses on the different types of publications – their purpose, structure, and methods of reading them. The second part contains practical advice on the preparation and writing of scholarly texts, whether it be a summarization on a topic or an article describing empirical research. The main text is accompanied by info-boxes, which expand on some aspects of research work and literature (e.g., statistics, compilation and interpretation of charts and tables, referencing rules, the use of reference manager software, data management and others).
