The scholar first points out some disadvantages of the broadly understood professionalism in comparison to the emphasis on the personal qualities of a professional in the spirit of the ethics of social work by Sarah Banks. Then he relates these Aristotelian professional virtues to interesting features of the Christian concept of professions and presents a deeper concept of professionalism, which captures the demands of helping professions and diaconal and charity work.
