The publication is a collection of four studies dealing with the integration of minorities into German society from the second half of the 20th century until now. The book discusses the integration of 12 million Germans expelled from Central and Eastern Europe after World War II and the political integration of the extreme left-wing supporters and protest movements, which gave rise to the Green Party and German civil society. The author also focuses on the impact of German reunification, with a particular emphasis on the integration of inhabitants of the former East Germany into the Federal Republic of Germany. The book concludes with a study on Berlin’s integration policy in the past few decades.
