Os verbos modais poder e dever: contributos para uma análise jurídico-linguística

In this book, some of the atypical behavior of the verbs "poder" and "dever" in the field of legal language are discussed. In analyzing the two dominant textual typologies – the area of law itself and the area of court judgments – the potential for interpretation of these verbs is described with respect to some of their occurrences, with the aim of reflecting on the operative variations of this modal.
