This collective monograph presents the research on Czech popular culture, which it shows to be a source of deeper understanding of Czech society both present and past. Authors from many different fields were involved in the creation of this book; thanks to them it was possible to present a wide variety of approaches and methods which could be used while researching popular culture and its specific expressions in the Czech environment. The ambition of the editors was to combine slowly developing, but for now still fragment research and present topics which they considered to be thought-provoking for further development of the field, characteristic for its interdisciplinary nature. The book thus represents an experimental verification of the possibility of applying theories on popular culture in the Czech environment.
