This book presents essays published in Czech and Polish journals and collections over the past two decades. They address various aspects of the Cistercian order (visitations, medicine, and political activities) and the environment of the King Wenceslas II’s court (1283–1305), including the almost forgotten figure of Jan of Ostrov. Both topics converge in the last section devoted to the Chronicon Aulae Regiae chronicle.
