This textbook contains essential and up-to-date information related to the broad field of social medicine and public health care. The book is useful for students as well as those working in health care and social services, who may benefit from the fact that in addition to explaining concepts and the content of social medicine and public health care, it also raises questions related to the health care system and outlines possible solutions. The book also describes primary care as the basis of the entire health care system, covers the fundamentals of health care legislation, types of health care systems and the system of medical and social services, and presents selected topics in the medical history. The text is accompanied by charts and tables as well as by two appendices: the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and the Ljubljana Charter on Reforming Health Care.
