summary

This book focuses on activities of Sudeten German sports organizations with negative sentiments towards the state. Their activities regularly provoked reactions by the state administration and so the entire genesis of mutual relations between the Czechoslovak state and individual organizations can be traced in materials from the archives. The Deutscher Turnverband (DTV), one of the most important sports organizations, played an important role in the history of interwar Czechoslovakia not only in sports but primarily on the political level as it was a breeding ground for leading representatives of the Sudeten German political representation. Activities of the Sudeten German sports organizations with negative sentiments towards Czechoslovakia significantly affected the development of the Czechoslovak state in the second half of the 1930s and their anti-Czechoslovak attitudes culminated in 1938, particularly during the events surrounding the Munich Agreement.
