Approximately 15 per cent of all deaths in the Czech Republic take place suddenly, without any admonitory clinical symptoms. This problem occurs in all age groups, although with various etiology. The authors arranged the book according to age groups and depict the most common nosological items and also diagnostic possibilities during autopsy. Special attention is paid to infants, adolescents and the most frequent group of the middle age. It has been more than 100 years that a similar monothematic publication of this topic was published in the Czech environment.
