summary
This book seeks answers to some of the serious questions concerning the Czech labor market, focusing on how education, skills, social origins and socio-psychological characteristics affect the income and socio-economic status of jobs. This book, produced by a group of scholars, also attempts to explain the gender pay gap for different levels of achieved education, the changes in the status of working people after the economic crisis at the time of the market recovery, the degree of autonomy in the workplace and the effect of qualification disproportion on labor mobility. Last but not least, it demonstrates the current degree of individuals’ satisfaction with work and life in general. It presents arguments supporting a correlation between these evaluations and make conclusions about those aspects of work and jobs Czechs prefer and desire and those that their current jobs fulfill.
Tables, charts and other outcomes of statistical research and international comparisons, included in appendices, provide copious material illustrating the topics covered.
