The French historian Pascal Acot (1942), a specialist in the history of scientific ecology and environmental science, reconstructs the long history of climate development starting with the formation of the Earth up to the present. The book provides information on various climatic forms, a mutual link between the climate, life-form evolution and human history. In the closing section of the book, the author reflects on the expected future development of the Earth's climate. This publication, innovative in many ways, addresses the problems of overrating the influence of the weather on various events, yet also of underestimating the human society's impact on the overall modification of the Earth's climate.
