summary
The author deals with the development of writing and written texts of younger schoolchildren. The book approaches children’s text on the boundary of meaning of “literary” – as written versus as artistic. It follows the development of children’s written works from the start of schooling up through puberty, from the stage of relative illiteracy through the age of mastering the basics of written culture. In addition to presenting the various types of children’s texts in their development, it takes notice of more general topics such as imitation and one’s own authorship, the relationship of the writer with the readership, an index of genres of texts, working with writing in a children’s group or the similarity of oral and written culture in children’s written works. The publication refers to the approaches of the Prague Group of School Ethnography. It is intended for the academic public, psychologists, educators, students and parents.
