This publication presents a wide spectrum of influences of folk music on Czech classical music of the 19th and 20th centuries. It focuses on collecting folk songs and various forms of so-called secondary existence of folk songs in city environment. The second part of the book analyzes adaptations of folk songs for choir and choir music to folk lyrics. The rich typology is demonstrated by examples from the work of ten leading Czech composers (A. Tučapský, O. Mácha, J. Málek, J. Feld, P. Eben, J. Křička, Z. Lukáš, J. Laburda, Z. Šesták, C. Kohoutek).
